{"id":883,"date":"2020-08-03T08:54:15","date_gmt":"2020-08-03T12:54:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/?p=883"},"modified":"2020-08-03T08:54:15","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T12:54:15","slug":"anti-sexist-social-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/2020\/08\/03\/anti-sexist-social-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Anti-Sexist Social Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday last week I attended a great online meeting, organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.antisexistsocialclub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anti-Sexist Social Club<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextgenmen.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Next Gen Men<\/a>; people from all over the world were attending.<\/p>\n<p>Although I miss attending discussions in person, there&#8217;s a massive opportunity in remote events &#8211; I would not have been able to participate, had it taken place in New York.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonbird.cool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jackson Bird<\/a> was reading from his memoir, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simonandschuster.com\/books\/Sorted\/Jackson-Bird\/9781982130756\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sorted<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/d.evanwoodland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dane Woodland<\/a> was reading from his collection of poems, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakwaterbooks.com\/books\/transversing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transVersing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The event focused on what we can do in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwinnipeg.ca\/rise\/terms.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2SLGBTQ+<\/a> community to be more inclusive and less sexist; all proceeds went to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theokraproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Okra Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to the organizers and their skillful moderation &#8211; I learned a lot, and I look forward to many more such events!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Screenshot_2020-08-03_10-33-43.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"722\" height=\"423\" title=\"Screenshot_2020-08-03_10-33-43\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"Screenshot_2020-08-03_10-33-43\" src=\"https:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Screenshot_2020-08-03_10-33-43_thumb.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Sorted, Audio Book &#8211; I support Jackson on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/jacksonbird\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patreon<\/a>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday last week I attended a great online meeting, organized by the Anti-Sexist Social Club and Next Gen Men; people from all over the world were attending.
