{"id":391,"date":"2019-05-06T13:31:10","date_gmt":"2019-05-06T17:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/?p=391"},"modified":"2019-05-06T13:32:38","modified_gmt":"2019-05-06T17:32:38","slug":"elyas-mbarek","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/2019\/05\/06\/elyas-mbarek\/","title":{"rendered":"Elyas M&rsquo;Barek"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the weekend, we saw &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.constantin-film.de\/kino\/der-fall-collini\/\">Der Fall Collini<\/a>&#8221; by Marco Kreuzpaintner, based on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.de\/Der-Fall-Collini\/dp\/B07NL4XG2C\/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=&amp;sr=\">novel<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schirach.de\/\">Ferdinand von Schirach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The film paints a very accurate picture of West Germany in the time after the war and before the 68 unrests, a time when a lot of Nazis were still in positions of power and used their positions to escape prosecution for their war crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Der Fall Collini is most definitely a very important film, especially given the rise of the new Right in parts of Germany and Europe, but most striking is the lead actor &#8211; Elyas M&#8217;Barek in the role of the lawyer Caspar Leinen.<\/p>\n<p>Elyas handled the transition from comedy to drama really well and excels in his role, torn between family, law and justice.<\/p>\n<p>I believe he&#8217;s probably the best young German-speaking actor in the moment and am very much looking forward to seeing him again on the big screen!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_20190504_184042.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_20190504_184042\" src=\"http:\/\/chfrank.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_20190504_184042_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20190504_184042\" width=\"672\" height=\"505\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Movie poster at Rex am Ring Lichtspiele, Cologne)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the weekend, we saw &#8220;Der Fall Collini&#8221; by Marco Kreuzpaintner, based on a novel by Ferdinand von Schirach.
